University Council holds first meeting

The inaugural meeting of the newly constituted Great University Council took place on Thursday and Friday, 12 and 13 September 2019, in the Herbert Chitepo Law School Boardroom.  The Council’s term runs from 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2022. Council is the Executive authority of the University.

Prominent Development Analyst and Strategist, Professor Mandivamba Mandi Rukuni was elected Chairman of the Council, deputised by Mrs Joana V. Gwisai, who held the same post in the previous council.  Other non-executive members of Council are Professor Ignatius Muguti, who was retained from the previous Council, Ms Fungai Maregedze, Mr Eben Makonese, Professor Willis Gwenzi, Dr Dumisani Kutywayo,  Reverend Dr Chiropafadzo Moyo,  Dr Perpetua Gumbo, Mrs Petronella Musarurwa, Professor Zifikile Mguni-Makwavarara, Mrs Edna Mukurazhizha, Mrs Rumbidzai Gasa and Mrs Teclah Ponde

Vice Chancellor Professor Rungano Zvobgo, the Pro Vice Chancellor, nine members of Great Zimbabwe University Senate, representatives from the Staff Representative Unions  and the President of the Students’ Executive Council are the executive members of Council. The Registrar is the Secretary to the Council.
