Welcome Note
Director:
The Research and Post Graduate Studies Office was established at Great Zimbabwe University to contribute towards the fulfillment of the University’s vision, mission and Strategic Plan Objectives. It seeks to realise its mandate by coordinating and administering all research, and implementing an integrated post graduate training system. Currently, the office is manned by a Director, an Assistant Registrar and a Chief Secretary.
Vision
To be the centre of excellence in research and post graduate studies in Arts, Culture and Heritage, as well as other programmes that promote the advancement of knowledge through research and learning, as mandated by the Great Zimbabwe University Act.
Mission
To coordinate, monitor and create an environment conducive to quality post graduate training, research growth and communication of the research outputs, in order to meet the changing needs of society and for sustainable development.

Professor Vongai Zvidenga Nyawo
DIRECTOR RESEARCH AND POST GRADUATE STUDIES
A researcher, experienced supervisor and mentor, Prof Nyawo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Zimbabwe, Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in the teaching of History and English Language from the Zimbabwe Open University, a Masters in Contemporary South African History, passed with Metlof, from the Free State University (UFS) South Africa and a Doctor of Philosophy in Land Reform (UFS).
Her research interests are in Land Reform, Food Security, Women and Food Issues, Governance, the Cold War and Beyond as well as Climate Change. Prof Nyawo has authored and co-authored articles in peer reviewed journals, chapters in books and academic books.
Professor Nyawo has been a high school teacher, Head of Zoe High School in Lesotho,Publications Ofcer at the Institute of Southern African Studies housed at National University of Lesotho, Lecturer at Midlands State University and International Research Fellow at the University of New Hampshire, USA.
