DIRECTOR’S NOTE
Its large pool of experts drawn from the University’s seven schools, namely Arts, Agriculture, Commerce, Education, Law, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences, utilise the station to share knowledge that help the community to solve existential problems and to proffer solutions through research and innovations.The station is committed not only to providing a quality broadcasting service, but also grant quality mentorship to media professionals, specifically those who specialise in Radio and TV production/broadcasting. Thus, the station serves as a tool for practical exposure and training in broadcasting to students while at the same time articulating the vision of Great Zimbabwe University.
Great Zimbabwe University Campus Radio Station (Varsity Voice of Choice) is Zimbabwe’s first campus radio station; established by Great Zimbabwe University in 2020. The signal reaches across the Masvingo metropolitan area on 89.5FM, Mashava on 100.4FM and Chiredzi on 90.0 FM. GZU Campus Radio Station, which is largely run by students under the mentorship of a small team of permanent members of staff with diverse expertise in media and broadcasting, seeks to provide quality, relevant, dynamic, innovative and thought provoking programming content which speaks directly to shaping the future to its audiences.Through a mix of student and staff-produced programmes, music and reports, the station’s programming addresses Zimbabwe’s developmental challenges and sustainability. Besides targeting students spread across its campuses in Masvingo, Mashava and Chiredzi, the GZU Campus Radio Station, also serves as community engagement tool for Great Zimbabwe University.
